“DRAGONS” BY THE GREEN CHILDREN
DIGITAL DOG REMIXES EP FOLLOWS IN SEPTEMBER, AND DEBUT ALBUM ENCOUNTER IS SET FOR DIGITAL AND PHYSICAL RELEASE ON OCTOBER 5 AND 12, RESPECTIVELY
LOS ANGELES, August 2, 2010: The Green Children, the new musical duo whose songs blend ethereal pop with post-modern dance beats, will make its Spinside Records debut on August 17 with the worldwide release of the electronica-inspired original song “Dragons.” Two versions of the track will be issued as digital singles, including the album cut—from The Green Children’s forthcoming full-length Encounter—and a remix by DJ Paul Oakenfold. Both versions will be available as part of a special digital bundle as well, with the “Dragons” video as a bonus.
The Green Children— European-born artists and songwriters Milla Sunde and Marlow Bevan—are the first act signed to Spinside, the just-launched, artist-centric imprint that’s a new division of Inside Recordings, the independent label formed by Jackson Browne and his management company. “I was really captivated by The Green Children as soon as I heard them,” says Ethan Browne, who oversees the label, “and I’m excited that Spinside will have a part in introducing their music to the world.”
On September 21, Spinside will also digitally release the “Dragons” Digital Dog Remixes EP presenting Digital Dog’s Dub, Club and Radio Remixes of the song.
Following on October 4th and 12th is the worldwide digital and physical release of Encounter, The Green Children’s debut album. Released in association with Knightingale Entertainment, it features 12 original tracks ranging from dance-driven to acoustic ballads including “Hear Me Now,” “Black Magic,” and the album version of “Dragons.”
Milla Sunde and Marlow Bevan met while attending the Liverpool Institute of the Performing Arts, an English university co-founded by Sir Paul McCartney. As The Green Children, their rhythmic and romantic sound has been described as “cinematic fantasy pop,” and has already generated interest online with the atmospheric YouTube hit “Life Was Beautiful.”
The duo’s name comes from the medieval British tale of the green children, a mysterious story from the village of Woolpit in South East England. Each artist takes creative inspiration from the enchanting legends and scenic wonders of their charmed birthplaces—Marlow’s home town is Warwick in Central England (close to where Shakespeare lived), and Milla hails from Alesund on the west coast of Norway, a spectacular locale amidst breathtaking fjords. The Green Children’s music is naturally infused with folklore and magic, lyrically and through its euphoric sounds.
The Green Children are also dedicated to channeling their creative energies to positively influence the planet via The Green Children Foundation, established in 2005. The Foundation is active in areas including micro-credit, healthcare, and empowering women in the developing world, environmental initiatives, and generally fostering ideas to make the world a better place.
